Conjunto Alegre has been a prominent fixture in the live Latin music scene since 1987, showcasing vibrant tropical music from various Caribbean nations, including the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and the United States. Aquiles Montas has served as the principal advocate for Caribbean music in Oregon since 1984.
The band's energetic performances and strong rapport with audiences have established them as a sought-after act at numerous venues and events, such as the Mt Hood Jazz Festival, Portland Mayor's Ball, Rose Festival, Cinco De Mayo, Ilani Casino, Eugene Celebration, Salem Art Festival, Oregon County Fair, and city summer concerts across Oregon and Washington state.
This 12-piece salsa ensemble performs a diverse repertoire that includes merengue, salsa, cumbia, cha-cha, bachata, and captivating boleros.

Neftali Rivera, a native of Puerto Rico and a long-time resident of Portland, heads Grupo Borikuas, a group dedicated to presenting traditional acoustic music from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other areas. Their diverse repertoire encompasses various genres, including Boleros, Plenas, Bombas, Chachas, Bachatas, Merengues, Guaguitas, and Sambas, making them suitable for both intimate events and large-scale performances, as illustrated in the video below.
Although Grupo Borikuas is a relatively small ensemble, they radiate an impressive level of energy, skill, and charm, guaranteeing that your guests will be engaged and dancing, reminiscent of a vibrant night in Latin America.
Grupo Borikuas features a diverse array of instruments, including guitars, Cuatro Puertoriqueño, Tres Cubano, congas, bongos, and cajón, complemented by exquisite vocal harmonies. They perform beloved songs such as "Besame Mucho," "Sabor a Mi," "En mi viejo San Juan," and "Guantanamera." Additionally, Neftali and Grupo Borikuas, offer original recordings that showcase traditional folklore, providing delightful music for both listening and dancing.
